Southwest Sauce

modified from multiple sources online

Ingredients

1/2 cup Mayonnaise
2 tsp Lime Juice
1 tsp Sugar or equivalent of Sweetener of Choice
1/2 tsp Dried Cilantro
1/2 tsp Paprika
1/2 tsp White Vinegar
1/2 tsp Water
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Garlic Powder
1/2 tsp Ground Chipotle Chili Powder
1/4 tsp Finely Ground Black Pepper
pinch Dried Thyme
pinch Ground Cumin

Preparation

  1. Combine everything in a bowl, and mix very well. Using a small blender (such as a Magic Bullet) or an immersion blender will likely yield best results.
  2. Transfer sauce to a squirt bottle or jar.

Recipe Notes

  1. The original recipe contains 1 tsp. sugar. However, to make this sauce more diabetic friendly, I replaced it with an equivalent sweetener. I suspect that the sugar or sweetener could be omitted entirely without significant negative effect to the taste.
  2. The original recipe does not contain Black Pepper. As a fan of Black Pepper, I have added some to this recipe. You can omit the Black Pepper for a result more similar to the famous submarine sandwich restaurant chain version of southwest sauce.
